ACPD: Firefighter assaulted by drunk man who later peed in public at hospital

A 27-year-old Arlington man is facing numerous charges after allegedly becoming violent while on the way to the hospital.

Arlington County police say Yeison Orellana Perez injured himself while drunk and was transported by medics from the 3700 block of Columbia Pike yesterday.

While on the way to the hospital, Orellana Perez allegedly struck a firefighter in the ambulance, then exposed himself at the hospital and started urinating.

More, below, from a crime report.

ASSAULT ON A FIREFIGHTER, 2025-01070088, 3700 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 4:14 on January 7, police were dispatched to the report of public intoxication. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect sustained injuries while he was believed to be under the influence and was transported to an area hospital. While being transported, the suspect allegedly struck a firefighter. The firefighter sustained minor injuries and received treatment upon arrival at the hospital. While at the hospital, the suspect kicked an officer’s body worn camera, exposed himself and urinated in public. Upon release from the hospital, Yeison Orellana Perez, 27, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on a Firefighter, Public Intoxication, Obstruction of Justice, Indecent Exposure, Urinating in Public and Attempted Destruction of Property. He was held without bond.

Orellana Perez has a criminal record in Arlington going back to at least 2019, including charges for drunk in public (x3) and brandishing a firearm. (An earlier version of this article incorrectly attributed other charges to Orellana Perez; it was, in fact, his brother charged with DUI and several other crimes.)

In July 2023, Orellana Perez was arrested for beating and seriously injuring someone he knew during a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical altercation, according to ACPD. After pleading guilty he received a net 1.5 year prison sentence in April 2024 — 3.5 years suspended from a 5 year sentence — according to court records. Probation was to begin upon his release.

Also in the crime report, a man with a history of robbery and weapons arrests is facing another.

In 2019, Christopher Uglialoro was arrested for a pair of robberies in the Crystal City, including one in which he allegedly threatened a store employee with a knife. Court records show he pled guilty to a felony theft charge in 2020 and was sentenced to six years in prison with three years suspended, to be followed by six years of probation.

This past Tuesday evening, Uglialoro, 46, was again arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a business on the 4100 block of Columbia Pike. Police say he brandished a knife during the robbery and stole cash.

From ACPD:

ROBBERY, 2025-01070093, 4100 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 5:14 p.m. on January 7, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the business, engaged an employee in conversation, brandished a knife and demanded cash. The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a register before exiting and fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers observed an individual matching the description of the suspect and in the area and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect was wanted by the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office and a knife was recovered. Christopher Uglialoro, 46, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery and was served with the outstanding warrants.

Court records show Uglialoro was out on bond from an Oct. 28, 2024 incident in which he allegedly walked into the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City while brandishing what turned out to be a BB gun.

In addition to the robbery charge, he’s also charged with failure to appear in court and faces a potential revocation of his probation and suspended sentence from the Crystal City robberies, according to online records.
