Call Your Mother ‘Jew-ish’ deli opens kiosk in Crystal City

Call Your Mother has arrived in Crystal City, offering bagel sandwiches and “Jew-ish” deli classics.

The D.C.-born deli opened Monday at Water Park on 1601 Crystal Drive, touting its unmistakable spunky aesthetic and hardy offerings.

Call Your Mother has 13 signature bagel sandwiches

  • These can be ordered on eight different kinds of bagels, including everything, cheddar, pretzel and za’atar.
  • Bodega-style egg sandwiches can be ordered with toppings like spicy honey, bacon, mashed avocado, latkes and Impossible sausage.
  • Other sandwiches include the Caesar salad-stuffed Don Cesar and the Gleneagle, loaded with candied salmon cream cheese, cucumber, crispy shallots and lettuce.

It offers classic deli treats

  • A “schmearz and fixin’s” menu features tuna salad, whitefish salad and smoked salmon, as well as seven types of cream cheese.
  • A selection of sandwiches and melts come served on challah or rye bread.
  • A side of three latkes with sour cream and apple sauce is $7.50.

This is the first Arlington location

  • The nationally acclaimed deli began popping up at D.C. farmer’s markets in 2018 before opening its first brick-and-mortar spot in D.C.’s Park View neighborhood.
  • The shop has since opened over a dozen locations across the D.C. area and in Denver.
  • The Crystal City kiosk is the fourth in Virginia, joining shops in McLean, Alexandria and Vienna.
