NEW: Wind Advisory issued for gusty Thursday night

Arlington and much of the D.C. area is under a Wind Advisory tonight (Thursday).

The advisory, in effect until 10 p.m., warns of gusts up to 50 mph potentially leading to downed trees and power outages.

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Northwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE…DC, central, north central, northeast, and northern Maryland, northern and northwest Virginia, and panhandle West Virginia.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
