New Iranian restaurant plans spring opening on Langston Blvd

A new Iranian restaurant hopes to open this spring on Langston Blvd, where plans to open a fast food restaurant and hookah lounge never materialized.

The eatery, Alvand, is expected to open as soon as April at 5009 Langston Blvd, owner Mohammad Esfahani told ARLnow. Esfahani had originally hoped to open an All About Burger at the location but faced years-long delays related to construction and the building’s electrical system.

Alvand is coming ‘very soon’

  • Named after a peak in Iran’s Zagros Mountains, the restaurant plans to offer Iranian cuisine, but is still developing its menu.
  • The restaurant applied for a state license to serve alcoholic beverages this month.
  • “Very soon we will be ready, and then we will start training people to work with each other and open the place,” Esfahani said.

Burger joint plans deserted

  • Brothers Ebrahim Esfahani and his brother Mohammad own and operate three All About Burger locations across Arlington and D.C.
  • They had proposed opening another burger joint on Langston Blvd all the way back in 2019. However, those plans shifted as the duo waited nearly four years for the building’s electrical system to be updated.
  • “The economy changed, we spent a lot of money and lost a lot of money,” Mohammad Esfahani said. “And now I want to change it to sit-down restaurant.”
