Teen apprehended after Virginia State Police chase in Arlington

A teenager from D.C. is facing several charges in Arlington after an early morning car chase.

A black Dodge Charger “that had previously eluded state troopers on multiple occasions” was spotted speeding on I-395 around 1 a.m., according to Virginia State Police, leading to a wild chase that ended in a crash on 15th Street S. in Crystal City.

At approximately 1:04 a.m. on Sunday (March 23, 2025), while working a special enforcement project on Interstate 395 near Exit 10 in Arlington County, Virginia State Police troopers spotted a black Dodge Charger travelling at a high rate of speed. A trooper began to pursue the vehicle, as it had been identified as a vehicle that had previously eluded state troopers on multiple occasions.

The suspect vehicle exited Interstate 395 southbound onto Route 110 northbound, where State Police successfully deployed tire deflation devices. However, the vehicle did not stop, exited Route 110 near Arlington National Cemetery, and then got back on Route 110 heading southbound. The suspect vehicle, which eventually ended up with one working tire, continued onto Route 1 southbound, and then exited onto 15th Street in Arlington, where it skidded and crashed into the curb.

State Troopers contained the vehicle at the curb to prevent anybody from leaving the vehicle.

The driver, a 17-year-old from Washington, D.C., was taken into custody.  The driver has been charged with eluding and reckless driving as well as seatbelt and equipment violations.

Two other juvenile passengers were released to their parents.

The chase and its aftermath were caught on camera by local public safety watcher Dave Statter, below.

Statter has documented several recent incidents involving a driver in a black Dodge Charger seemingly taunting police by loudly “drifting” at a Pentagon City intersection that leads to the Pentagon reservation and the HOV entrance to northbound I-395.
