Two teens were taken in custody after an unsuccessful armed carjacking attempt in Pentagon City over the weekend.
The incident, which happened early Saturday morning a few blocks from Amazon’s HQ2, was caught on camera. Local public safety watcher Dave Statter posted video of the suspects hiding in wait, then the would-be victims fleeing on foot.

ATTEMPTED CARJACKING, 2025-03290010, 400 block of 11th Street S. At approximately 12:48 a.m. On March 29, police were dispatched to the report of an attempted carjacking. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was exiting a parked vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects during which one suspect brandished a firearm and made threatening statements. The victim then ran from the area and called police while the suspects fled the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast, and officers from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency located two individuals matching the descriptions of the suspects in the area of the Pentagon and detained them. Arlington County officers then took custody of the two juvenile suspects and during the course of the investigation, Suspect One provided false identifying information to officers and a firearm, which was later determined to be stolen, was recovered. Petitions for Suspect One were obtained for Attempted Armed Carjacking, Possession of a Firearm Under 18, Possession of Stolen Goods, False ID to Police and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Petitions for Suspect Two were obtained for Attempted Armed Carjacking, Possession of a Firearm Under 18 and Possession of Stolen Goods.
Also in the crime report was a Friday night incident in nearby Crystal City, in which a man threw a glass at two female victims.
The victims were cut by the flying glass and one was taken to a local hospital. Warrants were issued for the suspect, who also allegedly brandished a gun during the fracas.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-03280290,1600 block of Crystal Drive. At approximately 10:36 p.m. on March 28, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect and two female victims were inside a business when they became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect allegedly threw a glass, striking the two victims and resulting in lacerations. Employees of the business intervened. The suspect pushed an employee, brandished what appeared to be a firearm before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Medics responded to the scene and transported one victim to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life threatening. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified, and warrants were obtained for Malicious Wounding and Brandishing. The investigation is ongoing.
