Meet Kahlua, a large mixed-breed dog up for adoption at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, and they say he’s as “smooth, sophisticated and sweet” as his namesake.
Kahlua’s a big boy, over 44 lbs, and he’s a little over 4 years old, and he’s looking to be the only pet in his forever home.

When it comes to mealtime, Kahlua prefers the softest of foods. He’s a connoisseur of comfort and enjoys nothing more than indulging in a delicious feast. But it’s not just about food for Kahlua – he’s also a real toy enthusiast! He loves to engage in a good play session, and intends to keep curating his growing toy collection. Chew toys and puzzle mats are his jam. He’s basically a furry genius with a penchant for playtime.
And let’s not forget the most important thing – Kahlua knows he’s a good boy, and he loves to hear it! He thrives on positive reinforcement and will do anything to keep that praise coming. He knows plenty of tricks, including sit, stay, down, come, paw (both of ’em!), off, and turn around.
Now, while Kahlua is one laid-back pup, he’s not a fan of loud noises. He prefers the peace and quiet of a cozy home where he can relax and unwind. His sensitive ears make him the best home security system. He’ll hear a pin drop in the next county over and alert you with his adorable, concerned gaze.
He is a sun worshipper: he loves basking in the sun. He’s basically a solar-powered snuggle machine. And when it comes to outdoor adventures, he’s more of a leaf-carrier than a stick-fetcher. Sticks may be too heavy to carry, but a nice, crisp leaf? That’s worth all the effort in the world!
Kahlua is the perfect blend of smart, sweet, and slightly quirky. He’ll make you feel like the most understood person in the world (after a three-day download period).He’s basically a silent, furry therapist who also knows how to give you his paw.
