Two hospitalized after apartment fire with ladder evacuations

Firefighters rescued several people using ladders after a fire in an apartment stairwell early this morning.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. Thursday at a garden apartment complex along Columbia Pike, on the 1000 block of S. Quebec Street.

At least five people were evaluated by medics. Two were taken to a local hospital.

“Several occupants were trapped & brought down via ladders,” the Arlington County Fire Department said via social media. “Two occupants were transported with non life threatening injuries.”

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, ACFD said.
