Despite a rainy forecast and a military parade shutting down some Arlington streets, the Columbia Pike Blues Festival is still a go tomorrow.
The annual summer celebration and showcase of local talent will take place from 1-8:30 p.m., bringing live blues music, food, drinks and vendors to S. Walter Reed Drive from 9th Street S. to Columbia Pike.
“From legendary performers to neighborhood favorites, the festival lineup reflects the community’s creative heartbeat,” the event page said. “More than a music event, the Columbia Pike Blues Festival is a tribute to the people, stories, and sounds that make the Pike a place like no other.”
The event website says there are “several car-free options” for getting to the festival and ample parking in nearby garages.
Like the military parade, the Columbia Pike Blues Festival will bring road closures from 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m in the following locations.
- S. Walter Reed Drive from 9th Street S. to Columbia Pike.
- Southbound S. Walter Reed Drive from 7th Street S. to 9th Street S. will be open only to local traffic and handicapped drop off for the event.
- 9th Street S. from S. Highland Street to S. Walter Reed Drive
- 9th Road S. from S. Garfield Street to S. Walter Reed Drive
Vendors currently listed for the program include Area 2 Farms, Studio Pause, and Pop’s Praiseworthy Popcorn.
Musical acts will run from blues musician Rick Franklin kicking the festival off at 1 p.m. to funk/soul/jazz band Everyday Everybody at 6:30.
