Adoptable Pet of the Week: Bodhi

An adorable Chihuahua, Bodhi, is looking for a new home.

Bodhi — his foster insists he does not answer to Buddy — is a Chihuahua in foster care who was surrendered to Homeward Trails Animal Shelter after years of living with another family. The family moved and was unable to care for Bodhi, who is now in foster care.

According to the foster:

Bodhi is an adorable, gentle 16-pound Chihuahua mix looking for a safe, consistent, loving place to call home. He’s fully house-trained, and while he doesn’t like being crated, it’s no problem because he’s not destructive. He does great being left alone for hours, but will be waiting for you excitedly upon your return home with lots of love and the zoomies.

He’s a walking champ, will go fully comatose during belly and neck scratches, and most of all, loves to snooze on the top of the couch like a cat. Be warned that he can be sneaky, and you might find him on top of your pillow or curled up next to you under the covers when you awake in the morning.

Bodhi will come and check on you periodically throughout the day to make sure that you’re still there and all is well, then happily return to his perch on the couch or in the middle of a pile of pillows. He patiently waits for his food while it is being prepared and will sit for his vitamin treat after his meal. Lover of people, all things peanut butter, he might do best as the only dog in a home, or he will require a warm-up period.

While he is currently sharing a space with another dog of about his size, snoozing, eating, walking, and sniffing in very close quarters, and generally getting along well, he’ll occasionally give a warning when he does not want to interact and then returns to minding his own business.

Bodhi’s foster said interested owners can find out how to visit Bodhi via the Homeward Trails animal shelter website.
