Scattered power outages have been reported across Arlington after a strong dinnertime storm.
The storm peppered Arlington with lightning and caused water to rise on some local roadways. There were reports of trees, branches and power lines down and homes struck by lightning.
As of 7:45 p.m., Dominion was reporting 1,650 homes and businesses without power in Arlington, mostly in northern neighborhoods, with a concentration in the northernmost part of the county along N. Glebe Road and N. Military Road.
The storm prompted a Flash Flood Warning for northern parts of Arlington and led to water rescues in nearby Fairfax County.
One video posted to social media, below, shows cars driving through a flooded section of Langston Blvd near Spout Run and N. Kirkwood Road.
So far, there’s no estimate on when power will be restored to those currently in the dark. The Flash Flood Warning, meanwhile, has been extended until 10 p.m. as more rain pushes in from the west.
