Arlington County police are investigating numerous vehicle break-ins over the weekend.
The break-ins happened in a pair of parking garages along Columbia Pike, between late Saturday and early Sunday. Sixteen vehicles had windows smashed in and items were stolen from many of them, police said.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Late) (Series), 2025-08030051, 900 block of S. Lincoln Street. At approximately 5:44 a.m. on August 3, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property. The investigation determined that during the overnight hours, the suspect forced entry into approximately seven vehicles in a parking garage by smashing the windows and made entry into an eighth vehicle. The vehicles were rummaged through and personal property, including electronics and cash, were reported stolen from five of the vehicles. The victim vehicles vary in make and model. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black face covering, gray shirt, dark gray sweatpants carrying a backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (Late) (Series), 2025-08034005/2025-08030083, 900 block of S. George Mason Drive/900 block of S. George Mason Drive. On August 3, police received an online report of a late larceny. The preliminary report indicated during the overnight hours; the suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s vehicle in a parking garage by smashing the passenger window. The victim’s vehicle was rummaged through, and personal items were stolen. At approximately 10:56 a.m. on August 3, a patrol officer performed extra checks of the area and discovered eight additional vehicles in the area had their windows smashed and were rummaged through. Identification documents were reported stolen from those vehicles. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
Also over the weekend, police responded to two notable incidents involving weapons.
The first, along S. Glebe Road, happened early Saturday and involved a 30-year-old woman allegedly knocking on a man’s apartment door and then brandishing a gun when he opened.
The second, Saturday afternoon in the Arlington Forest neighborhood, involved a drunken man brandishing a pocketknife and demanding food from two people, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
BRANDISHING, 2025-08020024, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 1:45 a.m. on August 2, police were dispatched to the report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was inside a residence when they heard a knock the door. The victim opened the door and observed the female suspect allegedly brandish a firearm. The victim then closed the door during which the suspect began banging on the door, resulting in property damage. The suspect then fled the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect inside a nearby residence and took her into custody. During the course of the investigation, a firearm was recovered. [The suspect], 30, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Brandishing and Destruction of Property. She was held without bond.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2025-08020136, 200 block of N. Columbus Street. At approximately 2:34 p.m. on August 2, police were dispatched to the report of a suspect with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and female victim were outside when the male suspect allegedly approached them, displayed a knife and demanded food items. The victim’s then left the area and called the police. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect on scene and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, a pocketknife was recovered. [The suspect], 36, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery and Public Intoxication.
