Adoptable Pet of the Week: Rex

A former explosive detection canine is looking for a new home, and he may be a retired but he’s still the bomb.

Rex is an eight-year-old German Shepherd looking for a forever home, ideally one where he would be the only dog. His foster said he’s house-trained and well-mannered.

According to his foster:

He is 8.5 years old but don’t let his retired status fool you – Rex is still full of energy and loves playing fetch and taking long walks.  Rex is house-trained, crate-trained, and has very good manners in the home.  He does need eye drops twice daily, but he takes them like a champ.

Rex is friendly with people and had a great time this summer meeting the kids at AWLA’s summer camp.  He definitely bonds to his people and is quite loving and goofy once he’s comfortable with you.  Rex would prefer to be the only dog in his forever home.

Anyone interested in adopting Rex can email the foster at [email protected] to arrange a virtual meet and greet.
