ACPD: Man chased woman through Rosslyn, stole her phone

A 42-year-old man is behind bars after police say he chased a woman through Rosslyn and stole her phone.

The alleged incident happened early Sunday morning along N. Lynn Street. The suspect was later spotted by police in Ballston and arrested after a foot chase, police said.

ROBBERY, 2025-09210028, 1800 block of N. Lynn Street. At approximately 1:41 a.m. on September 21, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was outside when the male suspect allegedly began yelling at her, chased her and stole her cellphone before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. At approximately 3:20 a.m., an officer observed an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of Fairfax Drive and N. Stuart Street and attempted to detain him during which he ran from the officer. Following a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. [The suspect], 42, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery and Obstruction of Justice. He was held without bond.

Also in the crime report, an 87-year-old man is accused of masturbating in public, in view of two women and a kid.

The incident happened Friday afternoon in Ballston and a responding officer allegedly found the man still exposing himself. More, below, from ACPD.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2025-09190182, 900 block of N. Taylor Street. At approximately 4:23 p.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the two adult female victims and juvenile female victim were outside when they observed the male suspect allegedly exposing himself. A responding officer located the suspect exposing himself on scene and took him into custody. [The suspect], 87, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Public Masturbation and Indecent Liberties with a Child.

Additionally, Arlington County police are investigating a pair of incidents in the Pentagon City area last week.

In one, a male victim was struck with a metal object and seriously injured by three suspects who stole his jewelry. In the other, three juvenile suspects rummaged through at least nine vehicles in a parking lot, damaging six.

From another ACPD crime report:

AGGRAVATED MALICIOUS WOUNDING (Late), 2025-09180209, 13th Street S. at S. Eads Street. At approximately 7:46 p.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault. It was reported on September 16 at 10:00 p.m., the male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by three male suspects who engaged him in conversation. The suspects then struck him with a metal object and stole his jewelry before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries and self-reported to an area hospital. The suspects are described as three Hispanic males approximately 25 years of age. Suspect One is described as heavy-set, approximately 6’1”, wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants. Suspect Two and Suspect Three are described as thin-build, approximately 5’11”, wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants. The investigation is ongoing.

VEHICLE TAMPERING (Series), 2025-09190032, 1400 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 5:02 a.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined a witness observed three juvenile suspects force entry into vehicles in a parking lot and rummage through their interiors before fleeing the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates nine victim vehicles were entered. Six of the vehicles were entered by force by shattering a window or damaging the door handle. No items were reported stolen, and the victim vehicles vary in make and model. There are no suspect descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.
