ACPD: Man robbed by gun-toting suspect in Ballston last night

Arlington County police are investigating an armed robbery Sunday night in Ballston, among several notable incidents in the latest ACPD crime reports.

The robbery happened shortly before 8:30 p.m., along the 1000 block of N. Glebe Road. Police say a younger man armed with a gun demanded and then ran off with electronics and a bag from a male victim who was sitting outside.

ARMED ROBBERY, 2025-09280185, 1000 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 8:26 p.m. on September 28, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was sitting outside when the male suspect grabbed him from behind, displayed a firearm and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspect then stole electronics and a bag from the victim before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers established a perimeter and conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a thin-build Black male, approximately 18-25 years old, 5’8”- 6’0”, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. The investigation is ongoing.

Also in the crime report, two good samaritans intervened in a street robbery Saturday afternoon, near the intersection of S. Glebe Road and Columbia Pike.

The pair held down a suspect who had allegedly stolen a woman’s wallet, and kept him detained until police arrived.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-09270109, S. Glebe Road at Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on September 27, police were dispatched to report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached her and attempted to steal her purse and stole her wallet from inside. A struggle ensued, during which two witnesses intervened, and the suspect made threatening statements towards them. The witnesses held the suspect until officers arrived on scene. The suspect resisted arrest and kicked at officers until he was ultimately taken into custody with the assistance of additional responding officers. Once in custody, the suspect made threatening statements towards the officers. One witness sustained minor injuries. Ricko Ford, 32, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Robbery, Assault and Battery and Obstruction of Justice (x3). He was held without bond.

In a crime report late last week, police detailed a sexual battery incident along Columbia Pike, in which a scooter-riding suspect allegedly grabbed a woman’s buttocks and then threatened her with a knife, as well as a series of tire slashings in the Pentagon City area.

From the crime report:

SEXUAL BATTERY, 2025-09260003, 2400 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:06 a.m. on September 26, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. The preliminary investigation indicates the female victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached and engaged her in conversation during which he inappropriately touched her buttocks. The victim told the suspect she was going to contact police and he displayed a knife, knocked her phone to the ground and fled the scene. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a heavyset Hispanic male with a short black beard wearing a blue and black hat, a red and blue shirt and riding an electric scooter. The investigation is ongoing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Series), 09250235, 1500 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 11:32 p.m. on September 25, police responded to the report of an individual slashing tires in the area. Upon arrival, officers located 10 victim vehicles with their tires slashed. The victim vehicles vary in make and model.  Officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as an Asian male, wearing a tan jacket, blue jeans and a black hat. The investigation is ongoing.
