A 32-year-old man is facing charges after police say he made threats while wielding a boxcutter in a Metro station over the weekend.
It happened just before 7 a.m. Saturday at the Ballston Metro station. Police say they were dispatched after reports that a man was “throwing items at people” in the station. The man allegedly threatened an arriving officer while holding a boxcutter, leading to a taser being used to subdue him.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-10250036, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 6:52 a.m. on October 25, police were dispatched to the report of a disorderly individual throwing items at people in the metro station. A lookout was broadcast, and an officer located the suspect inside the metro station holding a boxcutter and making threatening statements. The officer issued the suspect commands to drop the boxcutter to which he was non-compliant and ignored the commands. The officer deployed their taser and with the assistance of additional arriving officers, the suspect was taken into custody. While in custody, the suspect remained non-compliant and kicked an Arlington County Police officer. The boxcutter was recovered on scene. After being evaluated by medics at the scene, [The suspect], 32, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police and Obstruction of Justice. Metro Transit Police assumed primary on the investigation of incidents that occurred on the metro rail system.
Also in the crime report, a 54-year-old man allegedly stole items from a 7-Eleven in Virginia Square early Saturday — and threw a cup of hot coffee on an employee before fleeing the scene.

ROBBERY, 2025-10250034, 3500 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 5:05 a.m. on October 25, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, collected merchandise and allegedly walked towards the exit of the store without payment. The suspect threw hot coffee onto an employee before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect at N. Kirkwood Road and Washington Boulevard and took him into custody. [The suspect], 54, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Robbery. He was held without bond.
