Police investigating daytime home burglary and jewelry theft near Langston Blvd

Police are looking for a man who ransacked a home in broad daylight in the Leeway-Overlee neighborhood.

The burglary happened around noon Tuesday on N. McKinley Street, just north of Langston Blvd. Arlington County police say a resident returned home and discovered the burglar, who ran off with stolen jewelry.

Police responded and established a perimeter, but couldn’t find the suspect. More, below, from the latest ACPD crime report.

BURGLARY, 2025-01060089, 2500 block of McKinley Street. At approximately 12:04 p.m. on January 6, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect forced entry into the male victim’s unoccupied residence, rummaged through the interior and stole jewelry. When the victim returned home, the suspect exited the home and fled the scene on foot. The victim called police and responding officers established a perimeter and canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 25-36 years old, 5’8”-6’0”, wearing a dark-colored beanie and jacket. The investigation is ongoing.
