Tomorrow (Thursday) is another snow day at Arlington Public Schools, meaning students won’t attend school at all this week.
The school system announced the closure this afternoon, noting “hazardous conditions” on sidewalks, parking lots and other areas.
Students already had off on Friday for a grade preparation day, and the first three school days this week were all canceled for snow.
The complete APS announcement is below.
CODE 1: All APS schools and offices will remain closed tomorrow, Thu, Jan. 29, 2026. Crews have been working hard to prepare schools to open as quickly and safely as possible. Due to the significant ice and freezing temperatures, hazardous conditions persist on sidewalks, parking lots and other areas, making travel unsafe for students and staff.
Unless otherwise directed by their supervisors, custodial, maintenance and essential transportation staff should report to work at their scheduled time. All activities in schools and on school grounds remain canceled. For updates about Pool Operations, go to www.apsva.us/aquatics. For information about Arlington County programs and operations, go to www.arlingtonva.us.
Fri, Jan. 30, remains a Grade Preparation Day as scheduled, and there is no school for students.
Most other D.C. area school systems are also closed Thursday, with Falls Church and D.C. as the most notable exceptions — both will open on a delay.
Arlington County and the federal government, meanwhile, are both set to open largely on time.
Arlington County Government is open on time on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.
Community centers will open at 10 AM, Long Bridge Aquatics Center will open at 8 AM. https://t.co/rwT4sey3TX
