Rebuilt McDonald’s is back open on Langston Blvd after almost a year

At long last, McDonald’s is back in business on Langston Blvd — now with a second drive-thru lane but no Ronald McDonald statue.

Nearly a year after closing for a full rebuild, the modernized fast food restaurant at 4834 Langston Blvd officially reopened Thursday.

Touch-screen kiosks, previously missing from the restaurant, now flank one side, allowing for faster ordering. The fast-food spot also has dedicated mobile pickup spots near the counter and in the parking lot outside.

A new two-lane drive-thru also allows for quicker service — hopefully preventing the backups onto Langston Blvd that were all too common in the past.

The new configuration “allows us to serve our customers in the drive-thru more efficiently,” McDonald’s area construction manager Michele Miller previously told ARLnow. Demolition began last June and the location originally aimed to open in October.

The updates have brought a couple of losses. Namely, the restaurant’s long-standing Play Place is gone and, with it, the Ronald McDonald statue that has long been a target of local pranksters.

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
