Arlington Soccer Association opens new indoor training center in Penrose

A longstanding soccer organization in Arlington has opened a new indoor training facility and headquarters in the Penrose neighborhood.

The Arlington Soccer Association’s new 9,200-square-foot facility, called the Arlington Training Center, opened at 140 S. Wise Street last month with the goal of supporting year-round training.

“We consistently heard from families who were driving 20 to 50 miles for indoor training because there simply wasn’t anything like this in Arlington,” ASA executive director Frank DeMarco told ARLnow. “The Arlington Training Center changes that by meeting the need locally — saving families time while strengthening player development and expanding access to the game.”

The facility offers two turf fields — one large main field and a smaller secondary field — as well as a conference room for meetings and video sessions, a reception and lounge area and multiple staff offices.

The space near Sequoia Plaza “checked every box for us,” DeMarco added.

“It’s centrally located, easily accessible for families across Arlington, and allowed us to repurpose an underutilized commercial space into something that directly serves kids and the community,” he said.

Its opening has allowed ASA to increase its winter offerings, which include skills training, goalkeeper training and other well-rounded classes. Training programs are offered for players of all ages, with classes specifically designed for those under 5 and under 8 years old.

“Every step we’re taking is focused on supporting player development and strengthening our community,” DeMarco said in a statement.

ASA’s latest programs are scheduled to begin next week, and will run through March. Registration is available online.
