A charcoal chicken restaurant blending “bold Brazilian inspiration with Lebanese flavors” is expected to open next week in Lyon Village.
Signage for Tio Pelé is up at 3110 Langston Blvd, the former space of The Block Oven and, before that, Tarbouch.
The restaurant is expected to open next Friday, March 13, a Tio Pelé representative told ARLnow. A request for additional information was not returned by press time.
Outside of the direction of the menu — which will add to the established presence of charcoal chicken offerings, like El Pollo Rico in Virginia Square — not much else is known about the forthcoming Lyon Village eatery.
“Tio Pelé is designed as a casual yet high-energy experience built around open-fire cooking, fresh juices, and street-style vibrancy,” IRG Concepts, the restaurant group behind the concept, says on its website.
IRG Concepts is the same team behind Tarbouch, Villa Yara in D.C., Burger 7 in Alexandria and in the Falls Church area, and a handful of other eateries.
Tio Pelé’s website is currently under construction.
