Free weekend and evening parking is ending this week at several popular parking garages in Crystal City and Pentagon City.
JBG Smith — the prolific owner, operator and developer of numerous properties throughout National Landing and the D.C. area — will begin charging motorists a modest fee to park after-hours beginning on April 1.
It’s no April Fool’s joke, a JBG Smith spokesperson confirmed with ARLnow. Drivers will now have to pay $3 for the first hour, and up to a maximum of $6 for stays exceeding one hour, during times when it was previously free to park.
That’s 4 p.m.-6 a.m. on weekends, and all day on weekends and federal holidays.
“These modest parking fees help support ongoing garage operations, including maintenance, lighting, and other operational costs necessary to keep the garages safe, clean and well-maintained for tenants, customers, and visitors,” an announcement posted at 1770 Crystal Drive says.
The change affects all of JBG Smith’s parking garages in National Landing:
- 1901 and 1801 S. Bell Street (Malls)
- 2200 and 2100 Crystal Drive (Plaza)
- 2011, 2121, 2231, 2345 and 2451 Crystal Drive (Parks)
- 241 and 251 S. Bell Street; 1777 and 1550 Crystal Drive (Squares)
- 1215, 1225 and 1235 S. Clark Street and 200 12th Street S. (Gateways)
- 201 12th Street S. (Gateway North)
Property teams have alerted all tenants and signage has been posted throughout the garages, according to JBG Smith.
“We appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you,” the announcement says.
