Marymount students move in this week, bringing possible traffic delays

Students are arriving at Marymount University this week for their fall semester, potentially resulting in some traffic delays near the main campus.

Move-in began yesterday (Sunday) and will continue through this upcoming weekend, but the busiest day is expected to be Wednesday from 6:45 a.m.-5 p.m. This is the university’s official move-in day, with first-year convocation scheduled for Thursday morning.

“The most significant congestion is expected near the campus entrances along 26th Street N. and N. Glebe Road, including the intersections of 26th Street N. and Old Dominion Drive and 26th Street N. and Yorktown Blvd,” a Marymount spokesperson told ARLnow. “We encourage residents to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes during peak move-in hours.”

Fall semester classes begin at Marymount next week on Monday, Aug. 24.

“On behalf of Marymount University, we’re grateful for Arlington’s continued support, patience and understanding as we welcome new and returning students to our community,” Marymount said. “We greatly value our relationship with our neighboring communities and appreciate your partnership in ensuring a smooth move-in experience.”

George Mason University begins student move-in days at its main campus in Fairfax County this week, also starting on Wednesday and finishing over the weekend. GMU’s Virginia Square campus focuses on professional and graduate education, so it does not host undergraduate students in dorms.

Georgetown University students also move in over the weekend in D.C.
