A new cafe with in-house coffee roasting and imaginative decor is getting ready to open in Cherrydale next month.
Good Trouble Roasters is approaching the final stages of construction at 3800 Langston Blvd, owner Mike Greiner told ARLnow. Signage is up and the interior appears close to ready, but he said he’ll still need a few more weeks to open.
“Not all the way where we want to be yet, obviously, but we are getting there,” Greiner said. “More art, plants, coffee, and great people to add, then we will be ready!”
An online menu for the coffee shop currently lists a limited selection of baked goods and drinks including cold brews, iced coffee, cappuccino and espresso, plus wine and beer, which Greiner intends to offer in the afternoon and evenings.
The inside of the shop also features some fanciful murals by Brooklyn-based artist Jess Kostelnick.
“I love her wild art and she has blessed other friends’ (successful) businesses with her artwork, so I figured she is a good luck charm,” Greiner said in a text.
There’s no word on when a Rita’s Italian Ice might be opening in the same Langston Blvd retail area, although the dessert chain’s website still lists a location as “coming soon.”
Good Trouble Roasters currently bills itself as “the only on-site coffee roaster in the area.” Another roastery and cafe, The Roasted Vine, is also in the works in Shirlington, currently targeting an opening by the end of the year.
Good Trouble Roasters is located on the ground floor of a small condo building that is also home to Burger Billy’s Joint.
Down the street on Langston Blvd, another new establishment, Tatiana Pizza, also recently opened its doors.
Greiner had originally anticipated opening this month, but said a few remaining pieces of construction took longer than expected.
