Tupelo Honey closes after over a decade in Rosslyn area

A spot for fried chicken and other Southern-style food and drink has closed after 11 years in the Rosslyn area.

Tupelo Honey permanently closed at 1616 N. Troy Street on Monday as its lease expired, according to a storefront notice.

“We’re so grateful for 10+ wonderful years of biscuits, gravy, and good company with this community,” the message says.

Tupelo Honey opened in 2015, serving Southern-inspired bites like fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and butter pecan cheesecake alongside beer, wine and signature cocktails.

The location was fairly large: nearly 6,600 square feet with room for over 200 guests.

Prior to the closure, the location “drastically cut back” its hours a few months ago, one user wrote on X.

This was the only Tupelo Honey location in the D.C. area, and one of the business’s northernmost spots on the East Coast. The nearest locations of the nationwide chain are now in Virginia Beach and Pittsburgh.
