JUST IN: Police investigating fatal fall from Ballston apartment building

A person has died after falling from a Ballston apartment tower early Wednesday evening.

Police were dispatched to the Meridian apartment building at 900 N. Stuart Street around 6:20 p.m. for a report of a man that jumped from an upper story and landed on the pavement below, near the building’s driveway.

The person was pronounced dead on the scene by medics and covered with a white sheet. Police put yellow tape around the front of the building as a large crowd of onlookers gathered on nearby sidewalks.

As of publication a sizable police presence remains on scene while officers investigate the circumstances of the fall. Parts of N. Stuart Street were closed by police due to the emergency activity.

The Meridian building made headlines earlier this year after a pair of men allegedly BASE jumped from the roof, parachuting safely to the ground.
