Traffic camera video, below, shows a car traveling southbound on Glebe at a high rate of speed before apparently going airborne and slamming into a townhouse-style unit at the Bell Arlington Ridge Apartments, on the other side of the street.
The vehicle was engulfed in flames as first responders arrived on the scene. Firefighters later reported finding a victim in the vehicle.
Several lanes of S. Glebe Road were blocked for hours as a result of the crash, investigation and cleanup. Some I-395 ramps in the area were also blocked, according to a post from VDOT this morning.
Police are asking for additional information about the crash. So far, they are not identifying the victim.
