‘Summer Stomp’ fundraising fair coming to Harvey’s in Falls Church

A fair in Falls Church next week will pull together local organizations, games and dining specials to raise funds for an Arlington nonprofit.

“Summer Stomp” is expected to draw more than a dozen local businesses and organizations next Thursday at Harvey’s, an American restaurant at 513 W. Broad Street.

The gathering aims to fundraise for Our Stomping Ground, a nonprofit that connects adults with developmental disabilities to affordable housing, while hosting community programs like art therapy and yoga.

“We’re going to show off all the cool things of Falls Church,” Harvey’s owner and chef Thomas Harvey told ARLnow. “[There will be] different kids’ focuses, different [resources] for learning, for schools … home needs, medical, dental — all these different, wonderful, small-owned businesses.”

Modeled after the “Spotlight Falls Church” event that Harvey’s hosted last year, the fair, which begins at 5 p.m., will draw a mix of small businesses and services for families, including Clay Cafe, Creative Cauldron, Scramble and the Mary Riley Styles Public Library.

A list of participating organizations and businesses is below.

  • Our Stomping Ground
  • Acton Academy
  • Clay Cafe
  • Creative Cauldron
  • Dulin Preschool
  • Founders Eye Care
  • Easter Seals Child Development Center
  • KiPs Family Gymnastics
  • Kysela Imports
  • The Learning Quest
  • Mary Riley Styles Public Library
  • Penzeys Spices
  • ProHealth Medical
  • Scramble
  • Seven Corners Psychotherapy
  • Sylvan Learning Center
  • The Toy Nest
  • Tutor Smart

Harvey said the restaurant is planning to offer food specials, beer and wine during the event. There may also be a grill on the patio, plus a donation table.

“It’ll look like a little pop-up market, basically, and you’ll see a bunch of tables [with] different people talking about their businesses,” Harvey said. “Some people might have some interactive things. Some people will just have swag and information packets.”

Harvey’s intends to donate 10% of all its proceeds that day to Our Stomping Ground. The Ballston-based nonprofit works with housing partners, including Gilliam Place on Columbia Pike and Queen’s Court Apartments in Rosslyn, to increase access to interdependent living.
