It’s no secret that social networks don’t like people clicking links.

The networks want people to stay on their platforms rather than clicking through to news articles and other external content. That is why X (formerly Twitter) is over-indexing on video and Facebook’s referrals to news sites are down.

A Herndon man is facing a gun charge after allegedly being seen by police driving on the shoulder of I-395.

The traffic stop on northbound I-395 near Boundary Channel Drive, around 6 p.m. this past Friday, was also prompted by the officer spotting “improper registration” on the vehicle, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

A vandalism spree earlier this week in the Yorktown neighborhood is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

Graffiti was discovered Monday morning on 27th Street N. and N. Jefferson Street, a few blocks from Yorktown High School. It included a swastika painted on the sidewalk and a swastika and a racial slur spray painted on a car.

Roads are closed around the Key Bridge Marriott in Rosslyn after a fire in the vacant hotel.

Firefighters responded to the site at 1401 Langston Blvd around 8:30 p.m. and found fire on the fourth floor, according to ACFD.

A food hall in Rosslyn will soon undergo a major transformation.

Assembly, the food hall at Rosslyn City Center (1700 N. Moore Street), will be closing on Friday, March 1, a PR rep tells ARLnow. In its place will rise a new food hall called Upside on Moore.

Oyster Bar Coming to Pentagon City — “King Street Oyster Bar has inked a deal for a new location near the planned next phase of Amazon.com Inc.’s second headquarters. The restaurant chain, launched in 2014 by Rick Allison and Jorge Esguerra, will open its sixth location inside the Sage at National Landing, a 20-story multifamily building at 480 11th St. S. in Pentagon City. Waste Collection Fee Rising — “Arlington County Board members on Feb. 27 are expected to advertise for a later public hearing a proposal to increase the county government’s residential trash-and-recycling fee. Under the proposal, the annual cost for trash collection and recycling services would rise from $406.14 to $415.75 per household to account for higher costs.” [Gazette Leader]

Arlington resident Luigi de Guzman is back on Jeopardy! following his five-game winning streak in 2022.

The local attorney will compete against a trail planner from Silver Spring and a psychiatrist from Canada — each a returning champion — in an episode airing next Thursday, Feb. 29.
