Arlington County police are investigating an incident that resulted in a theft suspect discharging a round from the gun of a responding officer.
The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. when a person began to load up a backpack with merchandise from the Target at 740 N. Glebe Road, according to scanner traffic.

While Fairfax County recently rolled out a new prosecution dashboard with detailed breakdowns of the county’s criminal caseload, Arlington data tracking lags behind.
The new Case Overview Dashboard from the Office of the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney contains a wealth of information on the county’s criminal cases, with data on the age, race and gender of defendants as well as stats on specific charges.

A 63-year-old Florida man has been arrested following the robbery of a Crystal City bank Monday morning.
Police say the man, who’s accused of passing a note to a teller and fleeing with stolen cash, was “identified and subsequently taken into custody in Washington, DC on [Tuesday] with the assistance of Metro Transit Police Department.”
St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington is hosting its monthly run & walk social on June 18th (Thursday) at 6:30pm. The 3 or 4 mile run (or walk) will start in the back parking lot (off N. The fitness studio at 4231 Columbia Pike, which opened in late 2019 below Centro Arlington apartments and next to Harris Teeter, will hold its last day of classes on Saturday, Aug. 31, according to an email sent to members. After that, all Columbia Pike memberships will roll over to the Ballston studio at 4201 Wilson Blvd.
