In advance of an annual bicycling fundraiser for cancer research next month, a 14-mile training ride is scheduled to happen in Arlington this weekend.

The ride in preparation for the BellRinger — which raises funds for Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center — is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. this Sunday, Sept. 8. Starting at Trek Bicycle in Ballston, the route heads west toward Fairfax before returning to 3924 Wilson Blvd.

After a few months of construction, three intersections of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail in Falls Church have new all-way stops.

These stops are now in place at the intersections of Little Falls Street, N. Oak Street and N. Spring Street. They were added in a collaboration with NOVA Parks to increase safety, according to an email announcement from the city.

Arlington County is collecting feedback on a narrow walking and bicycling path along Arlington Blvd near Rosslyn.

The portion of the Arlington Blvd Trail between Dark Star Park and the N. Rhodes Street overpass is currently only a few feet wide in some places, sandwiched between Arlington Blvd and N. Fairfax Drive. A project page describes the trial as “an important bike connection” that is “surrounded by a frequent-trafficked road and a highway where vehicles drive at high speeds.”

A local high school student is hoping police can catch a man he says stole his bike in Pentagon City.

The alleged theft, on May 8 near Amazon’s HQ2, was caught on a surveillance camera and shared with ARLnow. The victim is a senior at Washington-Liberty High School.

A set of upgrades to an I-395 interchange and trails near Long Bridge Park are officially complete.

Officials from Arlington County, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority hosted a ribbon cutting today (Thursday) for the Boundary Channel Drive Interchange project.

Top cycling teams from around the country and abroad are coming to Arlington next week for the 26th Armed Forces Cycling Classic.

The races begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 with the non-competitive Challenge Ride in Crystal City, open to hobbyists, serious competitors and Corporate Challenge teams alike. Following that is the women’s pro/amateur Crystal Cup race at 10:25 a.m. and the men’s Crystal Cup at noon.
