Pizza Autentica has applied for sidewalk seating outside its forthcoming Ballston restaurant, and county staff is recommending that the request be granted.
The county board is expected to decide on the matter at Saturday’s board meeting. Staff is recommending that the board approve seating consisting of eight tables with two seats apiece at the northwest corner of Wilson Boulevard and North Randolph Street, facing Ballston Common Mall.
Pizza Autentica has apparently done its homework on the county’s outdoor seating do’s and don’t. It has agreed to not have any outdoor speakers in the cafe area, the seating will still allow for a clear seven foot path on the sidewalk and the Ballston Partnership is supporting restaurant’s request.
Pizza Autentica is also slated to open a new location in Crystal City in the near future.

Am I the only one that thinks it’s odd that both Rustico and Pizza Autentica are about to open only feet from each other at approximately the same time? With Arlington’s insatiable appetite for pizza, they will still both probably be packed. Also, isn’t 4075 Wilson on the North East corner of that intersection? Not trying to nitpick. I was just trying to figure out where Rustico was going to be.
In addition to the above mentioned restaurants, soon to open are Sweet Green, Buzz Bakery, and BRGR Shack. Ballston will have many more great options for dining and nightlife soon.
The wait for Rustico to open is killing me, and it should be on the side facing the lovely view of the Shell.
Hey, you stole my name!
When I looked through the Rustico windows a few weeks ago, it was months from opening. It looked like only dry wall had been hung.
Shame it won’t be open for oktoberfest, the Alexandria location is not fun getting to via public transportation.
Give them the seating if they agree to put an “H” in their name
there’s no competition between rustico and autentica. The level of quality is vastly different.
More food court pizza for yuppies. Welcome to Arlington.
What does “near future” mean in terms of time for Crystal City? Lots of great new places to eat opening up here soon. Chik-Fil-A, which was supposed to open in August but this time has come and gone and I just found out about Jimmy Johns.
This beats the stupid Slice N Dice and their overpriced food and inexperienced staff.
