The Greene Turtle is hoping to open in Ballston by the end of the year.
The sports bar and restaurant, on the ground floor of the new Virginia Tech National Capital Region building at 900 N. Glebe Road, should open at some point between Christmas and New Year’s Day, The Greene Turtle’s Sattar Shaik tells ARLnow.com.
According to The Greene Turtle website, the restaurant will be open from 11:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday though Wednesday, and from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The Greene Turtle has more than two dozen locations around D.C./Baltimore region, including two locations along the Delaware shore.

Hard to believe, given that it seemed to be a completely open and unfinished space when I drove by a week ago. But I guess a sports bar is mostly open space and 1/2 the construction time is hanging up all the damned tvs…
Well, that’s a heckuvalot faster than Bronx Pizza on Wilson– yaaawn… that storefront has been empty for MONTHS — except for the big sign in the window.
From what I understand, the same guy who owns Caribbean Breeze is trying to open Bronx Pizza. The kicker is that this guy IS from New York.
Does anyone know what other retail stores are being added to the space?
Seeeeeeeeee… you at the Turtle!
*meet. Meet you at the turtle.
What’s the draw of this place giong to be in Arlington? It’s notorious for having terrible food. They tend to have good drink prices, but then again, that’s not a draw in arlington since this is a show off kind of area. I guess a family friendly place where you can watch sports?
As long as there’s no smoking it’s good enough for me.
novasteve, you joking right?
good drink prices is all anyplace in Arlington needs.
praise the lord that this is finally happening!!
Aw, shucks. You’re welcome.
It’s competition for Bailey’s and Union Jack’s. Hopefully, it’ll be good enough contribution to improve the other two’s ability to distribute games across their TVs well enough that you can actually get a seat near the game you want to see.
It ain’t a Green Turtle if it doesn’t have a real live leprechaun!
It ain’t a Green Turtle if it doesn’t have a Gary Williams appearance.
I will bring the sweat towels, you bring the booze for Gary
I wonder who will win the battle for Caps fans? Union Jack’s in the Mall flies that flag but due to the Turtle’s Verizon Center location, it is presumed to be the heir-apparent in Arlington. Meanwhile, the most sitings of Caps stars at a Ballston bar are at the Front Page on Wilson. Rustico has better food than all of them but is not a factor here.
Hopefully the bus in Severna Park white trash to work at this one to give it a real, authentic feel
I like that idea.
huh? I’m from SP and I think it’s very far from a white trash place.
