Ruby Tuesday in Rosslyn Closed Due to Fire, Renovations

by ARLnow.com January 10, 2011 at 12:12 pm 2,913 14 Comments

The signs outside say the Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Rosslyn (1300 Wilson Boulevard) is renovating. That’s true, we’re told, but those renovations are coming on the heels of a gas-fed kitchen fire that broke out around 11:00 p.m. Thursday night.

An employee who answered the phone today said Ruby Tuesday will be closed for at least the next couple of days, although an exact reopening date has not been set.

The employee said that the renovations were planned, but were started earlier than anticipated after the fire damaged the restaurant’s kitchen.

Thank you to J.A. for the tip

  • Closed due to suckage

    • Rosslyn

That’s what I was thinking! Can’t it stay closed? Do people really go there? I’ve never been and I’ve lived in Arlington for over 20 years.

Why is the old Ruby Tuesday space above Ballston Metro still vacant? I can’t believe there is not some pizza place that could take it over. They even have approved outdoor seating.

How long has it been gone? Shows how much I pay attention and I live right there. Dr Dremos please

I bet it’s been two years, at least. Now that I think about it, it may have been TGIF, but whatever, same thing.

No, you’re right, it was a Tuesday not a Friday.

Might have just a tad more foot traffic than a block off the main drag in Clarendon.

My guess is that the landlord wants too much rent for such a prime location and nobody’s willing to bite in a down economy.

I do not believe the culinary health of Arlington will suffer much during this outage.

The Ballston Metro one was a Ruby Tuesday and closed around May-July 2009. Great location, surprised it hasn’t been filled as well.

  • Take it down a notch

I’m not ashamed to admit that I like Ruby Tuesday’s. I used to get salad bar to go from the Ballston location all the time. It’s not the finest dining in the world but it fills a niche.

      Good salad bar.
Ruby Tuesday at route 7 and Walter Reed has valet parking. That is classy.
ballston location sucks. Think how many people come in to use the bathroom. Or whatever. Terrible street presence.
You people are snobs — the common man needs rubys TGIF mcdonalds.

won’t be missed, and there’s always the typical crap chain restaurants lining Leesburg Pike anyway. Who goes to RT? Tourists who come here from the suburban wastelands of other parts of the country and have no idea what a good restaurant really is (although Rosslyn seriously needs a restaurant makeover). I forgot about Rays Burger, that’s become a tourist attraction simply because the President ate there twice. Overated and Michael Landrum’s a prick anyway.

Honestly there are at best four or five truly good restaurants in Arlington. We have lots of interesting but mediocre places that would never survive in a true restaurant town.

  • I think the Ruby Tuesdays at Ballston has been closed longer than that. I went once. It was horrid. I asked for a non smoking seat. That sat me in a non-smoking table RIGHT NEXT to a smoker. When I objected, they declared that their non smoking section was fully compliant with code (so???). Otherwise the experience was a disappointment and I never returned. Since then I have gone to a Tuesdays maybe once or twice on the road – but no longer. They are dreadfully run in general.
