Columbia Pike Electronics Store May Be Forced to Move — The long-time owner of a small electronics store is trying to decide what to do if he gets the boot from his landlord. Venus Stereos & TV occupies a prime storefront at the corner of the Pike and Walter Reed Drive, next to Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse. Should the store move, many residents are hoping that a cafe takes its place. [Pike Wire]

We could use an Irish cupcake shop on the corner.

  • Kate

As uninspired as I am by cupcakes, I would eat a Guinness one. I admit I got a little excited at the prospect of saying ba-bye to this store. It’s as puzzling as the way-overpriced framing store that also sells scooters. Really need a bagel bakery or breakfast/lunch cafe here!

    • SoArlRes

That would be a great location for it… Major intersection, apts, gym, and retail across the intersection, and neighborhoods nearby. Property along the Pike is going to continue to become more valuable, and the odds-and-ends shops are likely going to get pushed out in favor of more profitable, higher demand establishments. Can’t blame the landlords, especially when there’s a trolley line right out front!

    • South Arlington

Yes! A bagel shop/sandwich/panini store would be ideal here!

  • Scott

Why would anybody want a coffee shop? Are they really too lazy to walk 0.2 miles to Rappahannock?

    • Katie

No one said coffee shop. Rappahannock doesn’t cook breakfast. They toast bagels and make coffee.

I won’t miss the music blaring out of that store onto the Pike, loud enough to be heard clearly at the Farmers Market. I once witnessed the employees get into a screaming match with a line of people waiting to get into the drafthouse about the music, finally resuliting in APD responding.

The Art and Framing Club has always been reasonably priced in my experience and they’ve done an outstanding job. While the scooters are an odd side line to a framing store, it might be worth giving them a try!

Truth in naming. Call the new restaurant “Closing In July”

But that might be too optimistic…

I kid. But good luck to them. Tough location.

    • South Arlington

That location seems pretty prime to me.

      • Katie

Agree. Businesses that don’t do well around there do NOT have the location to blame. Look at how well Lost Dog, Bangkok 54, and Twisted Vines are doing.

        • Mick Way

I’m talking about the name contest for the restaurant in the Artisphere. Beautiful downtown Rosslyn.

    • KalashniKEV

They could call it “One Love” and every day could be Gay Public Exhibitionist Makeout day!

(Sadly, I would probably win with that one…)

  • Rick

I support a restaurant/cafe here only if they play tupac

  • Bringmetheyuppies

anything on the pike that will Bring Me the yuppies!
