Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the D.C. area through 6:00 p.m. tonight.

Forecasters say large hail and damaging winds are possible as storm activity starts to pick up in the early afternoon.

Arlington has had a lousy track record in terms of storm warnings this year, with many severe storms hitting to the north and south of the county, but skipping Arlington. We’ll see if this warning pans out.

Lousy? I would say lucky. No one really wants to get hit with these things…

Here’s a thought: issue a storm warning every day. Most of the time, people will be delightfully surprised, and no one will ever be caught unprepared.

Hold the applause, please. Really, it was nothing.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this. I don’t know why anyone would wish for a severe thunderstorn with damaging rain and hail.

I’d think we would all wish for accurate NWS reports…

Better safe than sorry! Especially with the horrific storms that have hit in the midwest, south and areas right here in Virginia.

  • Chris

Yeah, I’m good with no storm. Lets have some more of that.

I used The Weather Channel’s interactive weather map and it shows that we are likely to get hit starting around 5:30.

We going to be attacked by a giant green blob???

          The Rapture is late?

          • The Rapture

Sorry. Working on it. I got stuck in line at The Taste of Arlington. Jesus, that took forever.

It looks friendly and green from a distance, but when it hits us it turns yellow. Hide your kids….

    Did it even rain?
