A new seafood restaurant may be coming to Westlee.

A company called Dang Seafood LLC has filed a liquor license application for a proposed restaurant called “Heads or Tails.” According to the filing, the establishment will be located at 2200 N. Westmoreland Street and will feature a seating capacity between 101 and 150 seats.

It’s not clear which storefront at 2200 N. Westmoreland Street the new restaurant will occupy, but the among the candidates is the space once occupied by the now-closed Bear Rock Cafe.

On the wrong side 66. Pseudo Arlington.

Dang, baby! Is that a king prawn, or are you happy to see me?

I was hoping for a real bar but anything is better than an empty space.

And we pay Arlington taxes and parking permit fees, so don’t call us “Pseudo Arlington”. I’d happily be lame-o Falls Church if it meant i didn’t have to pay $30 to park on the street in front of my house.

Falls church city taxes are worse than Arlington. The RE taxes are 1.28 a hundred dollars of assessed property going to 1.33 next year. Their utilities are more and there is no such thing as pushing leaves into the street to be cleaned up. All leaves an yard waste need to be bagged and you need to buy a sticker at the Giant or other stores and stick it on the bag. I think it is going to $1/bag next fall.

Now, if you are talking Falls Church that is part of Fairfax and don’t pay FCC taxes then you are right.

Incorrect-o on the leaves, Herr Burger. Leaves still goto the street for fall pickup – they just quit delivering the composted leaves, opting instead for citizen pickup by the trashcan. Stick, branches, etc. can now go into trash cans so long as the sticks are 4′ lengths. I now get my mulch from ArlCo, albeit for $50/5 yards.

Personally, I put all my leaves in my garden and plow them in every fall.

The notice in the Westlee says “opening later this summer.” If the bookstore is any indication, maybe it’ll be open by Christmas. In any event, I’m happy to have somebody occupy the space, but a Cajun seafood restaurant seems like an odd choice. The space seems better suited for a Chipotle / Cosi / Panera type place that could make a killing off of the hordes of cyclists on the bike trail.

Oh come on guys, we all know it’s just Landrum, working under a front company’s name, getting ready to open Ray’s the Catch. 😛

Panera and Cosi are about a mile away. Thye’re not on the bike path but it does rule out any chance of them opening at this location.

What I’d really like in that space is a combination Thai food restaurant and Irish bar. I don’t think that’s ever been done before. I think it would be successful…wash down the spicy drunken noodles with a cold pint of Guinness.
