Tuckahoe Elementary Staff Lip Dubs ‘Party in the USA’

by ARLnow.com June 20, 2011 at 1:25 pm 4,929 35 Comments

The relatively recent workplace tradition of the lip dub has spread to Tuckahoe Elementary.

Tuckahoe staffers produced and starred in a music video set to Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” as an “end of the year gift” to students.

The video is intended to be “something to make [students] smile and uplift them before they go off for the summer,” in the words of one teacher.

Uh, thanks a lot for this story with an embeded “R” rated video, completely not work safe – would have liked the heads up.

WOW so much for catching up on Arlington news at work.

You’re trolling around on the internet at work and you’re blaming the sites you’re trolling? Get back to work.

    • ArlForester

      um, what?

    • Mkt Common

Um. There’s nothing NSFW about it, unless your work IUP is set up to block you from Vimeo (or keywords like Miley Cyrus) wholesale.

      • doodly

My video is full of topless teachers dancing in the hallways. Don’t know about yours.

        • ArlForester

Well yeah but that’s how teachers dress these days.

          • Maria

Hey, we just want to have a little more of a light-hearted atmosphere at school!

      • Lou

It was probably Miley. That girl is out of control.

    • Mike

Wow. Way to make gross accusations.

  • YoBimbo

That was adorable! Thank you for this – it made me smile. Now I’m going to share it with all my awesome teacher friends!

  • Melvis

I guess this is what all those ‘Tuckahoe Rocks’ bumper stickers mean.

    • SaveDaveMcKenna

Definitely NOT rock music. Perhaps for @Sonny, they could redo it using The Gourds version of Gin and Juice.

  • Arl. Parent

Very cute Tuckahoe… Nice job! 🙂

The benefits of teaching in a very affluent school in an affluent school district. I’m sending my resume to ACPS! Would love to land a sweet gig there. I bet I will be out before the busses. Unless there is rehearsal for another video.

    • What?

You make no sense. I hope you are not a current educator.

    • Maria

Being out before the buses* implies you may not have the dedication to do the extra, assuredly outside-of-the-school-day work required of something fun like this.

  • Nottingham Parent

Wow! Nottingham should do something like this! Oh wait, that would violate the no fun rule.

    • appalled educator

Uh-oh, the neighbors are threatened that the neighboring school is better than theirs. The neighborhood pool is going to be buzzing with plots to overthrow Nottingham’s principal.

      • Nottingham Sheriff

. . . until they collectively realized that they didn’t give a rat’s ass whether or not O’Connell got field lights and understood that they were ultimately better off than Tuckahoe

    • Teacher

LOL, you got that right! LOL

  • Mari

Kudos for the teachers at Tuckahoe! This is a team building, morale building exercise, I only wish we could have done it in my school!!! Well done!!!

    • Lip dub leader

Thank you. It did just that!

  • JimPB

Way to go, Tuckahoe staff. You light up the school building and grounds.
Refresh yourself during the summer, and come back in two months with the same creativity, spirit and energy.

    Any thoughts about next year?

    • Lip dub leader

Already have ideas bouncing around for something fun!

    • Lip dub leader

We have some ideas floating around!

  • Chris D

Just plain fun! For the kids and the staff — and for us “alumni” families, too! All the negative commentators should just “chill” and enjoy this for what it is — a lighthearted way to welcome summer!

  • Mike

    LOVE.

  • teach

way to go tuckahoe! adorable video 🙂

  • arlingtonian_guru

    Hystrical and cute!!! Go Tuckahoe!

  • ArlTeacher

Arlington teachers are the best!!! 🙂 Well done, Tuckahoe.

  • Love this creativity and enthusiasm! I am sure it carries over into the classroom. Great job Tuckahoe!

  • Shermane

I loved the video the teachers did for the students. I thought it was fun loving, care free, just awesome. The children will enjoy it tremendously. Good for you Teachers!!! You have a great summer.

  • chickenswantbeer

this was awesome – just don’t try it at the Beer Garden!

    • LisaDC

      That sounds like a challenge…

  • Jean
