Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Arlington as line of storms approach

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Arlington and other parts of the immediate D.C. area.

The watch is in effect until midnight.

Forecasters say a line of storms approaching from the west could bring damaging wind gusts, hail and frequent lightning. The line also spawned a likely tornado in Culpeper County.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been expanded eastward to include portions of north central Maryland and the DC metro. The portion of the line east of the Blue Ridge has shown radar indicated large hail and rotation. For the latest: https://t.co/o2JIHfN6Ao pic.twitter.com/F81snK7rm4
