Arlington and much of D.C. area under Flood Watch

It’s going to be a rainy Wednesday — so much so that a Flood Watch has been issued for Arlington and part of the region.

Despite some light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain is expected later this afternoon and could include some heavy downpours.

The Flood Watch takes effect at noon. More, below, from the National Weather Service.

* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. […]

* WHEN…From noon EDT today through this evening.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms will move across the area today into this evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with isolated amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible.
