Five detained after foot chases, potentially in connection to Lululemon thefts

Police in Courthouse responding to assist with a series of foot chases

Five juvenile suspects were detained by police Wednesday evening, potentially in connection to the series of thefts from the Clarendon Lululemon store.

It started with officers observing a group of teens outside of the activewear store at 2847 Clarendon Blvd, which since mid-June has seen at least four thefts involving groups of young suspects grabbing armfuls of merchandise and fleeing.

“At approximately 5:03 p.m. on July 10, police responded to the 2800 block of Clarendon Boulevard for the report of suspicious persons outside a business,” Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage told ARLnow.

Then, around 5:30 p.m., Arlington’s police dispatch channel lit up with multiple foot chases in the Courthouse area.

“The five subjects then boarded a bus and exited in the Courthouse neighborhood, during which some fled the scene on foot,” Savage said. “Following foot pursuits, the five juvenile subjects were detained. No charges were obtained at this time and the investigation is ongoing.”

Despite the chases, Savage said the incident did not involve any thefts from the store Wednesday.

“No thefts were reported today,” she said.
