A dog-friendly block party originally scheduled for this Sunday has been pushed back to the end of September.
With temperatures on Sunday at one point expected to reach around 90 degrees — the forecast now shows a high in the mid-80s and scattered showers — the Summer Bark Bash in Green Valley has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 “for the safety and comfort of all our dogs and their humans.”
“Get ready for an even bigger and better event! Thank you for understanding and see you soon,” Paws in the DMV, one of the event planners, posted on Facebook.
The event is slated to feature kiddie pools, a Salty Paws dog ice cream truck, pet portrait painting and pet photography, with over 40 vendors in total. It will also include a variety of activities for dogs, from an agility course to a trick contest hosted by Jimmy’s Pet Care.
Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care will be on site, offering vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing and parasite preventative services with no exam fees. And Dude’s Dog House and Spa will offer nail trimmings.
Some Bark Bash vendors and features are yet to be announced, including a food truck (for the humans) and a rescue with adoptable dogs.
The event will still take place in front of Snouts & Stouts, the indoor dog park at 2079 S. Oakland Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry is free, but attendees must download the Snouts & Stouts app.
Road closures previously scheduled for this weekend have been postponed until Sept. 29, Arlington County police confirmed.
