UPDATED: Green Pig Bistro moving from original Clarendon home

Green Pig Bistro is relocating from its home of more than 12 years, but might not be going far.

The restaurant’s last day at 1025 N. Fillmore Street is scheduled for late September, an employee told ARLnow. Green Pig may then move down the road to 2900 Wilson Blvd, where it will share a building with Buena Vida Gastrolounge, we’re told. But the deal is not final and at least one other location is being considered, the restaurant’s ownership says.

Owner and chef Scot Harlan originally opened Green Pig Bistro in 2012 as an American take on a French bistro. Harlan, who worked under notable chefs like Gordon Ramsay, sought an eatery that would allow him to experiment with innovative cooking techniques while keeping ingredients and flavors more traditional.

“I’ve spent the last 10 years doing tiny, 16 touches on a plate,” Harlan said in 2012. “I find more value in not going in that direction. You’re not paying for the paint on the plate, you’re paying for the food and ingredients and our staffing. Not for innovation.”

Despite changing heads in the kitchen and bringing in new ownership partners, the result 12 years later is a versatile menu ranging from hand-made pasta to seafood and steak. Green Pig offers brunch, lunch and dinner options, with the restaurant also embracing seasonal ingredients in limited-time dishes.

It’s unclear where, specifically, Green Pig would be located in the three-story storefront at 2900 Wilson Blvd, should it move there, though one tipster suggested it would be the first floor. Buena Vida, which previously shared the space with Tacos, Tortas and Tequila, is the only restaurant in the space now, after a series of branding changes.

Local attorney and restaurateur Fitzgerald Lewis, who now owns Green Pig, said a location in Rosslyn — near Barley Mac, which he also owns — is being seriously considered as well.
