Amazon’s HQ2 Community Day happening this weekend

Amazon’s HQ2 Community Day is back on the calendar.

Three months after an excessive heat watch postponed festivities indefinitely, the event is now scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 — promising a variety of activities for adults and kids alike.

From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City, a “kid’s corner” will provide attractions like face painting, glitter tattoos and a Lego wall, while chalk art and interactive art walls will let attendees “make your mark on HQ2.”

For the adults, a “Boozy Brunch Garden” will offer local craft beers. Other attractions include lawn games and screen printing.

Visitors are encouraged to visit restaurants neighboring the park, including Peruvian Brothers or Sweetgreen.

The celebration will take place in the vicinity of Met Park’s Saturday farmers market, which typically attracts about 50 local vendors offering food, art and other items for purchase.
