Arlington’s first outpost of a popular D.C.-area pizza chain is expected to land in Virginia Square this winter.
Construction is underway on Andy’s Pizza at 901 N. Pollard Street, formerly home to Ballston Place Gourmet. The restaurant, which has been in the works since at least July 2023, hopes to open in December or January, employees told ARLnow.
The restaurant applied for a state license to serve alcoholic beverages earlier this month and is currently awaiting some permit inspections, according to county records.
While menus vary across Andy’s Pizza’s 10 locations, the pizzeria generally serves standard and specialty pizza by the pie and slice. The restaurant’s website advertises its 72-hour cold fermented dough, which “gives our crust a unique crisp but soft bite with a touch of sourdough.”
The local chain also typically serves salads and starters like oven roasted broccolini and Old Bay fries, as well as a dairy free pizza option.
Andy’s Pizza has been the subject of some local acclaim, receiving “Best Pizza” titles from the Washington City Paper and Northern Virginia Magazine, in addition to a feature in The Washington Post’s 2022 fall dining guide.
The new restaurant will be the chain’s first Arlington location and its fifth brick-and-mortar spot in Northern Virginia.
An area manager for Andy’s did not respond to requests for comment.
