Arlington County has recorded its first carjacking of 2025.
A delivery driver was carjacked on Thursday, Jan. 2 near the Pentagon City Metro station, according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report.
The driver was returning to his idling car when he was jumped by 4-5 men, one of whom struck him and pulled out a gun, police said. They allegedly made off with the car and the victim’s phone and wallet. The car was later found in D.C.

CARJACKING, 2025-01020164, 700 block of 12th Street S. At approximately 6:37 p.m. on January 2, police were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim, who was operating as a delivery driver, was returning to his idling vehicle when he was approached by 4-5 male suspects. One suspect struck the victim, brandished a firearm and demanded his property. The suspects then stole the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene in his vehicle which contained his wallet and credit cards. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Washington, DC. The suspects are described as 4-5 Black males approximately 20 – 25 years old. The investigation is ongoing.
Last year there were at least 11 carjackings in Arlington, by ARLnow’s count.
The previous two, in December, also took place in Pentagon City, with one involving a delivery driver whose car was taken near Amazon HQ2 and another involving a man and woman who were carjacked by armed men in the mall parking garage.
