JUST IN: Early dismissal Tuesday for APS due to snow

Arlington Public Schools students will go home two hours early Tuesday, as a winter storm gets underway.

The early dismissal was announced Monday evening, after a Winter Storm Warning was issued for the area, calling for 4-8 inches of snow from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning.

In a message to families, below, APS said all extracurricular activities and field trips are cancelled and the Extended Day program will let out when schools close.

CODE 3: Due to the Winter Storm Watch in effect and potentially hazardous conditions expected for tomorrow afternoon, all APS schools will close early on Tue, Feb. 11, 2025, following their early release schedules, and offices will close two hours early. The Extended Day Program will close at the same time as schools close. Extracurricular activities, games, team practices, field trips, adult education classes, and programs in schools and on school grounds are canceled. Custodial and maintenance staff should work their usual shifts, unless otherwise directed by their supervisors.

Please note that the Work Session that was previously scheduled for the Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning for tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. is canceled. The scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting on the FY26 Budget will occur at 6 p.m.
