The first Arlington location of a popular D.C.-area pizzeria is on track to open next month.
Andy’s Pizza signage has gone up at 901 N. Pollard Street in Virginia Square as the restaurant plans to open by late March, Chris Cutler, director of operations, told ARLnow.
Andy’s slings New York-style pies
- Classics like Pizza Margherita and sausage and pepper are joined by specialties like buffalo crispy chicken and “carnivore” with pepperoni and sausage.
- The pizzeria’s dough is cold fermented for 72 hours and baked in a deck oven for a crispy texture and soft bite.
- Other locations offer a dairy-free pizza option, in addition to salads and starters.
It will open where Ballston Place Gourmet closed
- Plans for the new restaurant have been in order since at least summer 2023, when an “Andys Pizza Pollard St LLC” was filed with the state.
- The Virginia Square location will be Andy’s 11th restaurant alongside outposts in Fairfax, Old Town Alexandria, D.C. and Maryland.
- Founder Andy Brown opened the first Andy’s at the Tysons Galleria in 2018.
The shop has international recognition
- In 2021, Andy’s cheese pizza won first place in the traditional division at the annual International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas.
- Northern Virginia Magazine and the Washington City Paper have given Andy’s the title of “Best Pizza” in recent years.
