A fast-casual Korean restaurant with K-pop themed advertising has taken over a chicken spot in Ballston.
K-Food Casual has replaced Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken & Wings at 875 N. Randolph Street, with graphics inspired by the movie “KPop Demon Hunters” and a menu playing heavily on kimbap and bibimbap dishes.
Fast-casual meals feature rice and rolls
- The restaurant’s kimbap — a Korean-style roll akin to sushi — comes in four varieties: vegetable, bulgogi, cheese and tuna.
- Diners can also indulge in bibimbap, a rice dish led by vegetables and other ingredients, or two different rice bowls: one with beef bulgogi, and the other with spicy pork.
- The restaurant is also offering keychains of “Derpy,” a supernatural creature in “KPop Demon Hunters,” as a promo. However, the restaurant’s interior appears largely unchanged and some Hangry Joe’s signage is still up inside.
Hangry Joe’s opened two years ago
- The Nashville-style hot chicken chain opened in Ballston in January 2023, selling chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and chicken nuggets.
- Another Hangry Joe’s location is still open at 1301 S. Joyce Street in Pentagon City.
