A fast-casual spot in Crystal City has permanently shut its doors after a decade in business.
Signage appeared last week on the door of the Sweetgreen at 2022 Crystal Drive, announcing the closure. The salad purveyor had occupied the location since February 2016.
National Landing’s other Sweetgreen, which opened shortly after the Crystal City location at 575 12th Road S. in Pentagon City, will remain open, according to signage.
Sweetgreen also has three other Arlington locations at 4075 Wilson Blvd in Ballston, 3100 Clarendon Blvd in Clarendon and 1800 N. Lynn Street in Rosslyn.
A corporate spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
Sweetgreen, founded 20 years ago by three Georgetown University students, has long focused on reimagining fast food as a healthier option — resulting in a wide menu that foregrounds salads and protein bowls.
Nearby in Crystal City, a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at 1750 Crystal Drive closed on Feb. 22.
“We can sustain neither wings nor salad on Crystal City,” a tipster lamented to ARLnow.
